What a day! Thankyou to everyone who came to take part and everyone who donated.

After a false start on 7 June (we had to reschedule due to the inclement Hong Kong weather and a mega thunderstorm), we had blue skies and sunshine for our charity class, Muay Thai in the Park on 28 June 2020. We had an incredible turnout for the event. We kicked off with a group warm up led by Pele. Everyone was pretty warm already, but it's important to get those joints mobilised before training. After two laps of the park we split into groups, put on gloves, and got to work.

Ta trained the boxing group (the ones that aren't keen on kicking!) and focused on technique and padwork. Gat and Lookton took care of the beginners teaching them the basics, from jab cross to the perfect kick. For intermediate and advanced Muay Thai, we had groups led by Pele, Nummeechai, Tey, and Bem - every combination you can imagine using all 8 limbs!

After a much needed water break, we got to some conditioning. Everyone took a turn at speed kicks, burpees, squat jumps, push ups, and plank. It was a super energetic & tough workout. Everyone dug in and gave it their all. The atmosphere was amazing.

Before leaving, we brought the group back together to stretch, hydrate, and listen to Pele's story - the why behind Aries. He explained a bit about his background, and how Muay Thai gave him the opportunity to learn a skill and earn money. It wasn't easy though, from sleeping outside the gym in the rain to showering in the river (with no other options available) he and his brother Nummeechai truly fought to get where they are today - successful coaches in Hong Kong. We want to give that chance to others.

We came together to train, so that we can raise money to complete the construction of a training gym in a small village in rural Thailand. The proceeds from this event will make a massive difference - we are now able to install the floor, eaves, hanging racks for the bags, and start to build the ring. Exciting times... looking forward to showing you all the progress.
